EXPENSIVE UNIFORMS, CHEAP SELF-ESTEEM Skip Oliva pointed me to an article in the WashTimes extolling the virtues of school uniforms. The $75 uniforms are, apparently, the greatest things since sliced bread: test scores are up; fights and weapons violations are down. The uniforms even help to boost self-esteem.
“When they go on field trips, [strangers] compliment the children on their appearance and behavior. That leads to an increased self-esteem,” she says.
Behavior, yes. Uniforms? You can’t buy self-esteem- not even for $75.

yur so wrong!!! uniforms don’t prrove anything… they take any our true selves. I can;t tell what that person is like. It’s stereotyping. U see somebody in a uniform and u think they are the greatest kids in the world, they are mature then u see a normal dressed person and they are automatically bad!!! this is all bulshit |

bull shit, no. for outsiders and kids who come from poor families that can not afford the “popular” brand name clothing oftenly feel singled out, or outkasted. with uniforms, i have experienced for my self, clothing is not the bases of forming cliques, for me and my school, clothing didnt make the person, your personality made you the person you were. |

With uniforms people are making us belike colones we can’t show who we are through ugly and exspensive uniforms. buying clothes at stores is cheaper because you can buy it a cheap places. when you buy uniforms you don’t have a choice on the cost you just have to buy them because it is the schools dress code. and if we wear uniforms so should the teachers!!!! we should be independant dress diffrent. Uniforms suck!!!! take them away!! |
