I thought that’s what Vicks Vaporub was for? 😉 |

Yay – Glenn Beck video! I’d have to hear him explain what the shoot was for though, before laying down and agreeing that he’s a crook and a liar. The guy mixes parody and satire with the stuff he believes in so often, sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart. Anyone who has watched or listened to him for more than 5 minutes has seen him put on a melodramatic show for the sake of parody, as well as (allegedly) reacting genuinely. I’ve listened to his show where a stand-up comedian did his Glenn Beck impersonation – full of crocodile tears and overly-melodramatic calls to buy gold and get straight with God. Glenn was leading the studio on howlilng with laughter. This week he’s taken flak for sapping up the news of his possibly going blind. So he’s been relentlessly parodying himself there too – complete with sad soundtrack. He even carried the parody across to his gotomypc.com ad spot, asking his blind listeners to fumble around for a phone to call the company, and then realize that you have to go online to get the discount. He’s a great comedian. He may or may not be fraudulent about his emotional moments, I don’t really care either way, but that video does not = the jury back with a guilty verdict. |

Ever hear the term the “closing of the conservative mind”? You just demonstrated it for the class, Rob. |

Oh, goodie! We spend beaucoup de bucks at Home Depot. Good to know that in addition to all that lumber we just bought to put up a new barn, we’re also pissing off fundies everywhere. It’s a win-win for me! 🙂 |

@Rob — not guilty of what, are you claiming? Using vicks vaporub to gin up tears, or not being a bigot? |

“Rather than remain neutral in the culture war, The Home Depot has chosen to sponsor and participate in numerous gay pride parades and festivals. ” But it’s okay for a company to come out against gay marriage, and I’ve also seen where they’ve attacked companies for remaining “neutral”/aka not supporting their anti-gay agenda. Typical. |

Rob, come on. You don’t have to be a Glenn Beck fan or defender to continue being a Christian conservative. Let it go. He’s scum. Don’t associate yourself with him. |

LOL to scum, good word choice for a post about bigots right now because of “The Scum Breitbart”– Olbermann used that colorful, entertaining AND accurate coinage a half-dozen times last night in his special comment about the hit job on Shirley Sherrod. She’s one classy southern act. So far above scum and villainy words shouldn’t be needed . . .

I dunno – I’m not incredibly big on heroes and idols anywhere – especially not ones you encounter on TV or radio with an agenda to push. My sole exception is Fred Rogers – may history bear him out as being exactly what he apeared to be. I’d much rather spend my energies debating ideas with y’all. Yeah, personalities turn ideas into reality, but that’s only because so many people choose to be followers, bereft of critical thought. We share that gripe, even if we differ if you think it’s a problem only to humans who happen to be of only one political persuasion. Glenn Beck is a masterful entertainer. I’m not interested in entrenching myself behind him. If you see me playing the part of the follower, rest assured I’m only doing it to tick y’all off. |

And that helps America how? Seriously. There’s too much spectacularly effective sabotage of the system to need any more of it here among the genuine individuals just trying to survive it. Hopefully together but that possibility isn’t looking too good. I am a professional 1) news-editorial journalist and 2) education policy specialist and 3) public communications expert. It’s a good thing I’ve been home with the kids the past 20 years or I would have been fired (and suicidal) so many times more than Sherrod. The likes of Beck are purposely destroying us for fun and profit (theirs, not ours.) Time to choose or lose. |

Beck is an evil clown. His “ideas” are all about making money for himself by promoting his insanity. Nothing there for us to debate or discuss. |
