It is possible that watching Fox News makes you stupid. But it might also be that stupid, uninformed people like to watch Fox News because it echoes back at them what they already “know.”

    Or a distinction w/o a difference.

Did you see the update yet?

UPDATE: Fox News senior vice president for news Michael Clemente has responded to the study which found that his network’s viewers are more misinformed about American political issues than any other channel. In a statement to the New York Times’ Brian Stelter, Clemente disparaged the University of Maryland, where the study was done.

“The latest Princeton Review ranked the University of Maryland among the top schools for having ‘Students Who Study The Least’ and being the ‘Best Party School’ – given these fine academic distinctions, we’ll regard the study with the same level of veracity it was ‘researched’ with,” Clemente said.

“For the record, the Princeton Review says the University of Maryland ranks among the ‘Best Northeastern Colleges,” Stelter notes. “It was No. 19 on the Review’s list of ‘Best Party Schools.'”

I understand much better now than I once did, why these folks are so anti-intellectual and trying to discredit/destroy public education. Stupid people are the key to their success.

How many logical fallacies in that rant? Red herring for sure. Ad hominem? Others?

    JJ,

Are you getting a captcha when you try to comment? I just got one and have no idea why.

No. 19? Hardly worth going there! See, I got the message from Fox. I should look for a higher ranked party school!

    Thank God for Fox.

And I can now use the G word because I have been to a school concert. Yes, the local public high school had their holiday concert. But it was actually, thank God, a Christmas concert. And, thank God (you see, when you have religion, you should sprinkle as many Gs as possible in your drivel), it was hosted by the local Baptist minister. Yep, and he was special. And we ended the evening being asked to stand for a rousing rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. And peace be upon you!

Separation of church and state? Not in Martin County!

P.S. The evening was actually lovely, mainly because DD’s boyfriend was prominently featured during the show. 🙂

DD has a boyfriend?? And why haven’t we been regaled with stories about him? 😉

Daryl, I’ve gotten captcha detours here, but none lately. Never did know why.

    And there’s this.

“In the end, those of us who expected the crisis to provide a teachable moment were right, but not in the way we expected. Never mind relearning the case for bank regulation; what we learned, instead, is what happens when an ideology backed by vast wealth and immense power confronts inconvenient facts.

And the answer is, the facts lose. “

DD’s boyfriends come and go. We’ll let you know if anything permanent(ish) happens. They are having fun. They met at community theater and he’s a lovely band geek we have know for years from DS’s Tae Kwon Do.

    Small town livin’! 🙂
