MEA CULPA
I’m sorry I ever used the term “government schools.” I am NOT some right-wing fanatic.

I think the difference between us and them is not so much what we think of the g-schools, but rather the way we approach the topic. Most of us support the right of an individual or family to opt of of the g-schools if we decide that is what is best for our kids. We don’t assume it is best for everyone and don’t try to push it on others. The right-wing fanatics seem to think that the things they are in favor of are what everyone should be subjected to. It’s not just with schools, it’s with religion, abortion, immigration, etc. etc. etc. |

It is a dog whistle though. Like sticking a $ in HSLDA. Remember that lovely habit? Anyway, yes, exactly, Don. The wingers on the right do know exactly how we should be living — in school, in bed, etc. Which is amazing for a group that presumably wants less government but logic never seems to get in their way either. |

After lo, these many years finally figuring it out ourselves the hard way, I feel some weird sense of responsibility to be here for the next crop of parents coming up, with enough hints so they don’t fall in to the same rhetorical traps and get taken for the same ride . . |

hey, remember me? We used to be libertarians together, until you grew up and left me behind. 🙂 Well, I wanted to let you know I’m catching up. Thanks for your good example. |
