YES IT IS, NO IT ISN’T
There’s a very interesting discussion over at the AHA-Discussion board on cyber charters vs. homeschooling. Start at this post and continue down.

I really find it hard to believe that there are so many people in the ‘gray’ areas. In my mind, if you receive public funding you are a public school. If you don’t, you are private. Call it whatever name you will, but our homeschooling adventures have all been funded out of our own pockets and through our own research and hard work. It is also interesting how many parents want to call using a charter part time homeschooling. I generally try not to get into those arguments, because people at least are trying to have some say in their children’s education and that is loads better than the abdication of responsibility that is rampant regarding education. |

Have we become tendy enough that people want to look like homeschoolers, even if their not? That’s a frightening thought. Coming soon to a channel near you, HS’ing Eye for PS Guy! |

tendy = trendy. Spell checking is more effective when you use it BEFORE submitting the comment. |

Tendy sounded good the first time. 😉 As in, I sometimes tend to homeschool my children when they’re not charter schooling. I know a bad pun. 🙁 |

Unfortunately, spellcheckers still can’t tell “their” from “they’re.” 🙂 |

Way to go Judy Aron for speaking up over there& really doing a great job of explaining the concerns that homeschoolers have about these public charter schools.. Be them home charters or cyber charters… note the last word they want to add to any charter school school even one that you physically attend is the word “PUBLIC”. |
