A BIT TOO GRANULAR
I just think these stats are funny:
The district’s homeschool program as 2.4 kindergartners; 3 first graders; 1.2 second graders; 5.4 third graders; 2.4 fourth graders; and 3.6 fifth graders for a total of 18.

That is funny. The only partial children are in the homeschool stats. |

I agree that the numbers look funny, but from a stats pov, they are probably calculated on something like “Average Daily Membership” (ADM in educrat-eze). So a child who was pulled out of public school to be homeschooled for part of the year was as a 0.4 or whatever it rounded out to be. The public school would have the counter part of 0.6. The reporting of numbers always seems to baffle those journalism majors though. I might have given a head count “at that time” to avoid the ridiculous looking numbers. |

There’s another possibility- some school districts allow partial enrollment for homeschoolers. The schools get partial credit for their headcount. So, a homeschooler taking two classes might by 0.25 of a student. |
