School district budgets are so tight (How tight are they?)… They’re so tight that some districts are considering selling naming rights to the schools. I think this is a terrific idea, and I have a suggestion for the ideal candidate corporation.

Daryl, Thank you so much for starting my day with a big chuckle.. especially as my own home town is considering this ridiculous path in order to feed the money hungry school budget monster.. I will suggest this corporation as a possibility.. (still laughing…LOL)

As I mentioned on Joanne’s site, I believe that I will try to find the money somewhere to buy the naming rights for a high school, and name it the “Lilliputian Academy”
maybe, if I win the lotto, it will become a chain

    LOL

I was making a reference to Daryl’s writing style.

Gene Rayburn was the host of a 1970’s TV game show called Match Game. Gene would read a statement with a word missing and the contestant tried to match celebrities with the word filled in the blank. After a time, audience participation was expected at key times, as the statements followed a definite pattern.

    Example:
Gene, reading the statement: Dumb Dora was sooooo dumb,
    Audience: How dumb was she?
Gene: She was so dumb, she used her blender as a [blank].

Coincidentally, a story on this very same subject — “Schools relying on corporate sponsors” headlined the National Post — appeared in Canadian papers this week. We’re hard on your heels… (scroll way down here for the link to cut and paste)
