But it was an iffy thing for a bit. We were involved in a serious accident on I-95 yesterday afternoon. A car on our left crashed into the side of our van and smashed us head-on (at 75 mph) into the concrete guard rail. Everyone is fine (except Katelyn ended up with ~20 stitches to close a head wound). The car is distinctly not fine. More like a total wreck. Gruesome photos to follow.

I’ve been wondering why there haven’t been any updates for a while. Wow. With that kind of crash it’s a miracle you all are relatively okay.

I’d still be shaking… thank God you and yours are still with us. Hope Katelyn is feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear that crappy news Daryl. I hope Katelyn is feeling OK. Mail me your address so we can send some get well soon cards etc.

You will all have to come back down here for some rest and recuperation!

All these acidents happen, of course, because you all drive on the wrong side of the road.

    Wow
Glad you and yours are OK. Cars can be replaced easily enough, if they saved your life, they were worth what they cost. I see many MVA victims in my practice, and usually ask what kind of car they had. So, what kind of van did you have? Did the airbags deploy? I assume (hope) you were wearing seatbelts. Was there a rollover? I suppose I can wait for the pictures.

2003 Windstar. Both airbags deployed and we hit them (or they hit us) hard. We didn’t roll it, but I’m pretty sure we came close as the left rear tire blew and the left year bumper and quarter panel were scraped on the bottom. The car did it’s job. All were wearing seatbelts.

Very glad to hear you are ok. Hope Katelyn ends up with a very minor reminder of her stitches.

Wow, I’m so glad that ya’ll weren’t more seriously hurt. Here’s a helpful tip for your daughter that worked for us.

My daughter fell 2 weeks ago on her bike & took the brunt of the force to her face. She had a gash on her cheek, no stitches. We used the new “Mederma for Kids “scar gel on her face & it healed very quickly & there was no permanent mark.

Hopefully your daughter’s wound is not on her pretty face. I also hope that the challenge of dealing w/ insurance companies & replacing your van is only a minimal hassle. You all are in my prayers.
