AVAST, ME HEARTIES!

Filed at 8:27 am under by dcobranchi

Yes, it’s that day!

UPDATE: This is a Holy Day of Obligation for Pastafarians. All good Pastafarians must sit down to a “hearty” meal of spaghetti. Arrrgh!

Aargh, Daryl… tie-tack that mizzenmast or I’ll feed you to an unschool of fishies…

We had a lovely (and hearty) meal of spaghetti and meatballs this evening, and the boys drank grog (well, Stewart’s root beer and Sam Adams Octoberfest stout). Now we’re going to have some lovely cookies I made from a recipe in the the Patrick O’Brian cookbook, so while they may not be authentic pirate cookies, they’re certainly seafaring and of only slightly too late an era. This is my kind of Day of Obligation!

We’re ending the day with a family viewing of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Depp is terrific in that role.

Oh, I wish I had thought of that. We love that movie! The cookies were good, though.

I regret that I was remiss tonight with dinner. We had chicken and dumplings instead.

In Gray’s Creek Township, NC (my “official” hometown) chicken & dumplings is known as chicken & pastry. And what is boiled pastry, really?

Breck had a club fencing tournament last night. I don’t think they were considering the holiday when they scheduled it – but what better day for swordplay?
