I don’t know who or where this moron is, but I’m sincerely glad she won’t ever consider home education:

    1. If you can’t spell simples words like “dying”, “caffeine” or “scary”.
    2. You don’t know the difference of your/you’re or there/they’re/their and can’t CORRECTLY use them in a sentence.

Those are quite simple. If you can’t do either of them, you should NOT be home schooling your children. Save it for those who are actually educated. Don’t raise another illiterate dink that we’ll have to support later in life.

I never claimed to be the smartest person on earth. I’m not. In fact, if you read my blog, you’ll probably find bad grammar, typos/bad spelling, and even incorrect use of punctuation. But, I’m also not going to home school my child. I have enough common sense to know better.

I think people should be forced to go through a series of tests to get a license to home school. That also applies to having children. If you fail, they yank out your uterus to prevent you from ever breeding.

Perhaps she should step up for that surgery right away.

*The spelling error is intentional. When Google Blog Search found this piece of crap, the title was “homeschooling for dumbies” [sic]

And if you can’t handle your opinion being challenged, don’t publish it in an open forum.

No no.. I don’t mind my opinions being challenged, but, you took what I was saying totally wrong.

I don’t have a problem with home schooling. I think it’s great for those that actually can make that time and money commitment to their children.

    I’m a single mother. I can’t make that commitment.

I’m not suprised home schooled children would rank higher than public schools. They get a completely different kind of attention then those being taught in a public school.

My point is that some people shouldn’t even attempt to home school. This was mostly a direct reference to one person. They couldn’t spell if their life depended on it. People like her shouldn’t home school.

I’m not huge with public school either. I grew up in DC. I moved for the simple fact of trying to give my daughter something different.

I really did not mean to offend you, or anyone else. I’m sorry if I did. I think my message was just taken completely the wrong way.

Given the poorly written piece of crap my daughter’s best friend brought home (written by her state certified sixth grade science teacher), I really don’t think poor spelling and grammar should be a disqualifier for homeschoolers – hell if the public school teacher screws up, it damages 30 kids at a clip (or more) and she never sees them again. If a homeschooling parent screws up, she damages only her own kids, and has to live with that forever. That being said, I’m personally pretty darn motivated to do an excellent job!

Is there another way to read that last ‘graf? And, BTW, who gets to decide who’s too dumb to home educate (or reproduce)? You?

I can see from your first comment on this page; your comments weren’t taken in the wrong way.

If you don’t have a problem with home schooling; why should dumbies have to take a series of tests to educate their children?

I think people should be forced to go through a series of tests to get a license to home school. That also applies to having children. If you fail, they yank out your uterus to prevent you from ever breeding

Did you have a test before you had your child?

    Just a curious dumbie

omg, they said the “s” word on her comment section!
I have to go wash my eyes out. 😉

Seriously though, is this really over the homeschool issue or is it more about individual rights, and who should have the right to govern humans since they sometimes fail magnificiently at it?

My son’s third grade teacher sent home a SPELLING LIST with four words spelled incorrectly. Best of all, the title of the list, which was supposed to be based on words to prepare them for their field trip to a nature center to see owls, hawks, and eagles — all RAPTORS — was “The Rapture Center.”

    If only.

I have a spouse who is a public schoolteacher. He can spell too.

BUT he has co-workers and even had a principal once who couldn’t. The public school system is desperate for teachers. It doesn’t do for them to ask too many questions.

I had a teacher who pronounced “pseudo” puh-SWAY-do. One guess what subject he taught.

    Yep, she showed us.

It’s nice of “D” to have part of it on his site.

My son’s Kindergarten teacher spelled earring – earing.
