    How’s that “Sherman” coming?*

*UPDATE: In case you’re wondering– I’m convinced that Section 522 is a power grab by HSLDA angling to be declared some kind of official DOD-approved certifier of home education status. Scott insists they’re merely trying to serve their members. So, I’ve called for HSLDA to take a Shermanesque vow. So far, Virginia’s pretty quiet.

Sorry… I think I was marching through Borgia when you asked the question. Here you go:

“If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve.”

Or, to be more specific: if HSLDA really does use section 522 as a “power grab” to take away the freedom of other homeschoolers, I will resign from HSLDA, publicly explain my reasons for doing so, and take whatever steps seem appropriate to protect homeschool liberties from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Is that explicit enough for you?

    Geez!

Actually, I’m looking for a Shermanesque pledge from Farris and Smith. What I’d like to see is a public declaration that HSLDA will NOT be listed as any kind of official certification agency of homeschooling status for any kind of DoD regulation. So, if Rummy comes calling, they’ll turn away. Think they’ll go for it?

    Me neither.

In light of the Marine Procurement Manual, the Navy Recruiting Manual, and the go.army URL, it sounds as if the organization has already positioning themselves.

Pardon the typo — I’ve been reading too many regs and my eyes are fried.
