eBay has instituted a new policy whereby teacher’s manuals are verboten. School-at-homers are rightly upset. (HT: Tami)

The word on the street is that they have had this policy in place for a long time. They are just now deciding to enforce it.

School at homers will just need a code to ID the teachers manual. Kind of like how Ebay doesn’t allow scalping tickets – but you can pay $300 for a hat and get two tickets thrown in for free.

There is also a new place for homeschoolers to sell items via an auction. It can be found at homesc...ns.com .

I appreciate Daryl posting this here. I was not aware of the policy, and I know a lot of homeschoolers cannot afford to buy books at retail, and ebay is a popular place to buy/sell. I have never tried to sell anything on VegSource as recommended above, but it may be time to give it a whirl. I am signed up with the Homeschoolers Auction site, but I have not had time to list anything. It was easy just leaving it all on Ebay until I get some other issues taken care of with my website.

    Have a great day! Tami

I wonder if the reason for the policy has to do with the fact that teachers get their editions for free and are not, per their agreement with the publisher, permitted to sell those editions. That’s standard in the college textbook industry, in any case. Is the same true for K-12? Does anyone know?

If not, then the reason must be something to do with preventing kids for “getting the answers.” But since eBay allows student editions with answer keys to be sold, that’s probably not the case.

They’re policy states that those editions are ONLY for teachers and, since they can’t guarantee the buyer is a teacher, no sales allowed. Sounds like a bow to the publishers to me.

You can list all your homeschool curriculum on our auction site including the teachers editions.

Please take a look at our Christian Based Homeschoolers Auction Site.

    Thanks.
