OHMIGOD!!!!
Check the subhead on this story about a teacher posting topless photos of herself.
Art teacher in hot water over topless photos
School where teacher worked was attended by Bush daughters
The school not only fired her, they want to ban her from teaching in the entire state of TX. It’s an interesting question– Does the availability of these photos diminish her effectiveness in the classroom? I can see how they might, but it’s not a given that they do.
And in case anyone’s interested, here’s her myspace profile (Don’t worry– it’s work safe.)

This just amazes me. I know quite a few artists, most of whom are busy holding down ‘day jobs’ while pursuing their passions. Why would her case be any different? Heaven forbid there be any nudity involved in art! *rolleyes* |

Excuse me, but don’t you know that breasts are porn, and that all acceptable representations of the human form ended with the Byzantine Empire? Sheesh! |

Then these probably aren’t work safe. If al Qaeda really wanted to defeat “American values” and win the “war on terror” they should send Suicide Boobers to malls instead of suicide bombers. Cavalor Epthith, Esq. |

Doesn’t matter whether it affects your effectiveness in the classroom. As a teacher, you are an agent of the state and your behaviour in and outside the classroom is under scrutiny. I taught in TX and we were told quite plainly that we could be fired for behavior they considered questionable in our private lives. The example I didn’t get but had something to do with a lady in the district who went to church in purple tights and no shoes and got fired. |
