HMMMMM
The Panda’s Thumb reports that it looks like the lawsuit against the University of California system for discriminating against biology literature and English textbooks from BJU Press and other Christian publishers is going to trial.
Many of these texts, of course, are popular with home educators.

It’s good to hear that this sort of thing is going to trial; I personally think that the University of California system is in the right to make sure that its students are well educated in mainstream science. Creationism shouldn’t be accepted in universities. By the way, I’m the parodist responsible for the ‘Jesus Loves Amy’ blog at blogspot. |

I thought the lawsuit was about biology texts, but the link indicates English and history. If that is accurate, I’d be much less sympathetic to the UC. And, BTW, you have some of the most clueless commenters on the planet (current company excepted, I hope). 🙂 Thanks for dropping by. I love your blog. |

Yeah…English and history tend to have a bit less of a bias. If it’s just bad education, then that’s their right. But if it really is anti-religious bigotry, then it’s wrong. Even though I’m an atheist myself, I don’t oppose the right of individuals to have their own beliefs. And thanks! Yes, those commenters are rather silly. I can’t believe they haven’t worked it out yet! Well, I hope yesterday and today I made it obvious! |

I “learned” from many BJU books during my school years. I seem to remember christian school literature as reading the assigned piece followed by a spiral of questions that led directly to the moral, also known as “what the author is trying to tell you.” It’s amazing to learn as an adult that all books aren’t meant to draw a christian metaphor and produce a parable with a moral conclusion. I kind of wish I’d learned that earlier. |

This is hilarious! At BJU my daughter had a SECULAR textbook for biology! |
