The article is all about a public school “reaching out” to homeschoolers. So why the pic of a mom and daughter at the kitchen table?

Kudos to the reporter, though, for this bit:

Students at the tiny, nondescript public school building in North Seattle have no playground, no formal cafeteria, no sports teams, no bells signaling the end of class.

They come and go as they please, and the nearly 250 who pass through the halls don’t even consider themselves public school students.

More kudos to the reporter for noting that there is more to the story: Janice Hedin carrying the banner of independent homeschooling (called home based instruction in WA law).

It seemed like a nicely balanced article to me.

And they must just have a file of those “kitchen table” photos, Daryl. 🙂

I enjoyed the description of the resource center — it’s sounding more and more like the public library vision of community resources; a good thing.
