OH GOD!
If you’re a religious person, now might be a good time for some prayer:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — Gunmen in northern Iraq stopped a bus filled with Christians and members of a tiny Kurdish religious sect, separating out the groups and taking 23 of the passengers away to be shot.
There’s a circle in hell reserved for the neocons who unleashed this.

And they weren’t persecuted for being Kurds and Christians before? Let’s see these death squads are in Iran assassinating Christians and the US isn’t there. But we do hear of Iranians entering Iraq to fight against Americans. Seems to me there might be a connection–even if it is idealogy. jubile...a1.htm |

Annette, Quit playing dumb. The North has been relatively quiet with the sectarian attacks mainly restricted to tit-for-tats between Sunni and Shi’a. This attack has the potential to open up a second front. And the Christians were merely ordered off the bus. Geez! The chips some folks carry on their shoulders! |

Sorry, I read quickly because the news is upsetting and thought both groups were targeted. I’m acquainted with the religious persecution of the Christians in Iraq and Iran. The Sunni’s have cruelly persecuted the Yazidis over the centuries. No surprise that sectarian violence is spreading in the face of the rest of Iraq. But it is sad. So the Sunni’s have targeted Christians, but in this case, they don’t. Who do you suppose the gunmen are? Death squads who traveled to the area for the explicit purpose of creating more sectarian violence in Iraq? |

Okay, I see now that the article has just been updated: snip: Abdul-Karim Khalaf, a police spokesman for Ninevah province, said the executions were in response to the killing two weeks ago of a Yazidi woman who had recently converted to Islam after she fell in love with a Muslim and ran off with him. Her relatives had disapproved of the match and dragged her back to Bashika, where she was stoned to death, he said. (end of snip) Muslims are responsible. I thought it was odd as the two groups, Christians and Yazidi tend to get along as they are both persecuted by the same groups. It’s not that the gunmen had any special regard for the Christians, they just wanted to make a point that couldn’t be missed by specifically targeting the Yazidis. |

Yes there is Ser Daryl, and it is an expanding circle, growing larger by the week. Just another case of the persecution of Terra’s poor by Terra’s wealthy. And in your reality, is this not the only real war being fought? |
