QOTD: YOU DON’T?
Damn! So what are those sheep doing in my backyard?
Some people fear home-schooling, and this could be the gateway for them, she added. “The scary idea of home school – that you have to spin your own yarn and knit your own sweaters – is not a requirement of home schooling.”

:::laughing::: That reminds me of a comment made to me about people who send their kids to Waldorf schools. I’d mentioned to an American-German friend that I liked parts of the Waldorf philosophy and her reaction was, “Aack. You have to wear wool stockings and eat joghurt all the time.” |

It can be a scary prospect to give up everything you’ve been taught. And try some experiment not on yourself but on your children. I’ve never heard we were supposed to be shearing sheep though. 🙂 Nance |

…and while you may not end shearing sheep and knitting your own socks, homeschooling can be the door to many other “opting out” activities never before considered. That wasn’t a con (pro?) I’d ever considered when contemplating homeschooling. It’s making my life more complicated! This from the girl who will be researching grain mills over the weekend. bakin |

I remember having “support group” meetings where there were a couple of moms always talking about herbal medicines. It made some of us feel like we had to hide in the bathroom to take a Tylenol. 🙂 We didn’t want the borage of info on how Tylenol damages your liver and how we should be taking some herb or other.Too funny. I’m sure a lot of newbies got the idea from that group that you had to use herbal remedies in order to homeschool successfully. I got to where I would tell new folks coming into the group that you could homeschool even if you took Tylenol, bought your sweaters at Walmart, and had babies in the hospital. It didn’t take them long to understand what the heck I was talking about. 🙂 |
