HE’S BAAACK
Via Sam, we learn that Greg Laden’s back with another anti-homeschooling something. I’m not sure what it is, but “serious cry for help” comes to mind.
BTW, Laden’s expropriated the “Evolved Homeschooler” badge.
UPDATE: Geez! He’s freakin’ obsessed.

Go look at the average number of comments on his HS posts versus the comments on any other type of post he does. |

I read through a few of his HS posts. A couple tried to bait you, Chris. Kudos for not rising to it. |

Yeah, he has been trying all week. Not gonna happen. It is sort of funny though that my involvement seems to be so important to his ability to enjoy his blog 😉 |

I just don’t know why some people continue to fall for it. People “arguing” with him irritates me more than he does. |

He’s not the brightest penny in the pot. I discovered that after my first encounter with the cretin – he couldn’t distiguish between comment moderation and censorship. But both are really bad and make me a bad person! I see my newest stalker, Crimson Wife, is trying to make some sort of odd alliance with him… shades of Carrie and “Homeschooling is Treason!” CW’s positive to GL’s negative. It’s almost scientific. |

For what it’s worth, perhaps that proverbial penny, I don’t know, but I really am with COD and Christine here. I knew before I’d opened my mouth that smarter folks than me had already answered him. But making it an argument about semantics when all his other attempts were still smoldering and smoking just smacks of . . . seriously, semantics? |

Me too sam, I’m on board with climbing back on the wagon I fell off at Rolfe’s the other day — but I’ve been less irritated because he was insulting my homeschooler identity, than because he was making academics and intellectuals look bad! (I tend to take that personally despite knowing better . . .) |

I’ve been reading PZ Myers’ blog for a few months, and I mostly like what he posts. But he’s *so* anti-religion that he’s a knee-jerk anti-homeschooler, too, because he associates homeschooling with religious fundamentalism and creationism. The bulk of his commenters are just like him. You should read the comments on Myers’ post about the preaching boy. It’s sad to see so many supposedly intelligent, scientific-minded people demonstrate that they don’t really think for themselves after all. And they’re prone to hyperbole, intentional misrepresentation, and stereotyping, too. |

“I read through a few of his HS posts. A couple tried to bait you, Chris. Kudos for not rising to it.” I posted a thoughtful response to one of his earlier posts, and he replied likewise. However, since then it seems that he’s simply been trying to provoke people. Basically, he’s trolling on his own blog. There oughtta’ be a term for that; like auto-trolling, maybe? |

His latest drivel didn’t even make sense. I haven’t been visiting his blog, but after reading your post I thought I would go see what he was up too. Apparently my butterflies irritate him. Maybe when I have time, I’ll put a few more butterflies on my blog. |

I agree with Lori about PZ Meyers. I read him for quite some time, but even from my atheist point of view the guy is rabid. I commented one time to his blog suggesting that his level of atheistic belief takes as much faith as any religious belief, and rather than discuss what I may have meant I was basically blasted and had a number of things assumed about me. It’s some sort of something that just can’t let anyone be right. There is no gray area ever, anywhere for some people. I prefer my mayonaise on the top slice of bread, and I really don’t care how others do it. But these types of people would argue that my sandwich wasn’t tasty or healthy because the mustard has to be on top because that’s how they like it. |

Among the many hare-brained hypotheses crossing my hairy brain of late, is something I mention at Alasandra’s today. |

I don’t know if any of you know this but Greg was homeschooled, and not at all against homeschooling per se. I am one of the posters that made note of abuse that I have personally witnessed in homeschool environments, etc. His concerns and interests are more global than what this posting is bringing to light, and really, there is another body of homeschoolers who aren’t as snipy as this cabal. |
