My round-trip commute is exactly 4 miles. I might need to fill up the vehicle once/year.

Dear hubby has almost the same commute distance to Chestnut Run from our house & often has said it would be nice to have an electric carfor the trip. His Chevy Silverado just eats gas each week in stop/start traffic.

One problem has been that even w/ the 45mph speed limit on Lancaster Pike – in real life driving that speed would get you run over by the communting to downtown crowd from up North. Most electrics that he has looked at top out at 40mph.

The Bus no longer stops at our neighborhood. So by the time he would get to the nearest bus stop by walking that busy road he is only a mile or so from work.(carpooling not an option either in that distance)
Biking that route is also extremely dangerous!

He is on his way home tonight from Fayetteville. I forget what project he is working on but I think he said he will be making a few trips there over the next few months.

The GM products will be real cars with top speeds >70 mph. Even the maniacs on Rte. 48 don’t drive that fast.

Tell him to give me a call next time he’s in town.

Darryl, if it’s only 2 miles each way, couldn’t you bike to work and back? A 2 mile bike trip shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes tops. If you’re serious about stretching your fuel dollar, a bike eats no gas and you get the exercise to boot. On the odd day when the weather is just abysmal you can drive your EV.

Of course, if the bike route is so hazardous it would jeopardize your life, that’s out.

I have biked and hiked to work. I’m generally lazy, though. 🙂
