HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Filed at 6:12 am under by dcobranchi

Famous lost words from 2003:

Feb. 7, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, to U.S. troops in Aviano, Italy: “It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.”

Five years ago today, the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq began.

Wow — saw that clip on the Daily Show last night. I mean, looking back at it now, he looks like such an unabashed liar, it’s hard to believe that *anyone* could have bought that line. At time time, I guess, they had hope, for the sake of everyone involved, that he was right.

My wife (also Lydia, BTW) is from the Middle East. Real time, way before the start of hostilities, she predicted everything that’s happened. I figure if an amateur with a little bit of knowledge could figure it out, the experts at the CIA could, too. There’s no doubt in my mind that this was not only predictable, it was predicted by many.

Bush, Cheny, and the rest of the cabal just didn’t give a fuck.
