OH! MY! GOD!
This one is beyond belief.
Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago) interrupted atheist activist Rob Sherman during his testimony Wednesday afternoon before the House State Government Administration Committee in Springfield and told him, “What you have to spew and spread is extremely dangerous . . . it’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!
“This is the Land of Lincoln where people believe in God,” Davis said. “Get out of that seat . . . You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon.”

Hmm, or maybe it’s well within the boundaries of belief. I’d agree it’s beyond the Constitution, though. Or doesn’t that apply in Chicago? Nance |

Apparently she’s never read anything Lincoln had to say about organized religion, particularly Christianity. I really wish people would stop invoking the ‘Fore-Fathers’ religious beliefs without first checking out what those beliefs actually were. |

People who are actually secure in their beliefs have nothing to fear from simply knowing about the existence of other worldviews. I don’t see Mr. Sherman’s atheism as a particular threat to my personal faith. An annoyance, perhaps, if he’s a demagogue like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, or Christopher Hitchens. But not a threat… |
