WHAT DO I SAY NOW?
I’m having a bit of a debate with the local Hillary supporters. I don’t know why but I just keep hearing “uppity.” What do y’all think?

Daryl Cobranchi: My very most favorite liberalish verbal tantrummer in the whole world. Keep “kissing your candidate’s platform with the potty language you use on your blog”! |

Here is just a little sidebar about the attitudes of the Hillary Supporters: As I walked downtown today I heard some ladies talking about the “ticket” woman downtown that gave some Hillary supporters/workers a ticket (they were illegally parked) when they were clearing out the office dowtown. They were so enraged, I was easedropping, that they screamed out at the ticket woman: I BET YOU VOTED FOR BARACK OBAMA TOO! The woman turned around and said no I voted for Hillary. Do you see the point, why bother, they are so irrational and so bias. I think it all amounts to sour grapes!! For all of her “experience” she sure did run a subpar campaign or she would have a higher number of delelgates now or in easier terms she would be winning! I read the posts at the the Hillary for Clinton site, and if they think that they are attracting people to the Clinton side with thier illogical reasoning they are wrong. I am a Democrat first, there are certain issues and policies that I beleive in, I do not care if it is Kermit the Frog that can deliver on them ,that’s who I would be voting for. I am not that devoted to any man/woman on this earth to go against what I believe is best for this country. Sorry for the rant! |

I am so tired of hearing that Hillary is entitled to win (Why?) that she has more experience because she was First Lady (does that mean I can do my husband’s engineering job? he has been an engineer for 20 years and I have been married to him for all 20), or that I should vote for her BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN (that is probably the most ridiculous reason to vote for someone). I want the best candidate for the job. Looks like she intends to fight to the BITTER END. |

And that’s sort of the point of fighting for women’s rights. To get to the point where getting the job or not doesn’t depend on your gender. I don’t think the affirmative action argument can really be applied in this case. Nance |

I just read the thread over there and it seems you are misbehaving, Daryl. Didn’t you get the memo that the other volunteers in your area are for Hillary and so you should be too? How can they trust you to be a good little “local volunteer coordinator for the general election” if you don’t agree with them? When you need to think otherwise, they will let you know. Apparently. Good luck. 🙂 Nance |

And what to say next? Oh, let’s start with this: “That and it leaves the party running the risk we run here – ending up with a really good candidate who could be a great leader later but not the best our party has to offer now. And in this case it also further disenfranchises women as they watch the best of the best being usurped as sexism runs freely through the campaign barely acknowledged above the din of racism concerns. As if one social ill has priority over the other.” Clinton is the “best our party has to offer now?” From what I’ve seen, she is more of the same old generation of politics that has gotten us where we are — my generation 🙂 — and if we could use some fresh ideas, she isn’t where they are going to come from. What has she done or said in this campaign that doesn’t just reek of politics as usual? And what is this nonsense that sexism is as great an evil as racism but we’ve got to have a woman President as part of the fight against sexism before we have a black President as part of the fight against racism? One “social ill” shouldn’t have priority over another — except mine? Come on . . . And all of this is beside the point because the Dem race is over. And if John McCain keeps showing his ass the way he has done the past few days, the whole thing will be over before the pundits even get their microphones pinned on. Nance |

Hi Kara– I really was serious about wanting to work with Clinton supporters. I’m the volunteer coordinator for the Cumberland Co. Dems. I really don’t grok the vehemence at the Clinton blog. But I’m not an older white woman (2 out of 3 ain’t bad), and so I can’t possibly understand in the same way the disappointment Marena et al. must feel over Hillary not being selected as the nominee. If you think you might have some time to help out in the general (local, state, or federal races) drop me a line at daryl@cobranchi.com |
