I’m probably more paranoid about the gov’t than the average American– I still refuse to fill out the census form– but this entire article strikes me as badly written fiction. We’re supposed to believe that a pastor and the college where he teaches were threatened by the Men in Black federal agents because he told a group of boy scouts to read the Bill of Rights. And then there’s this bit:

Alex Jones’ 2001 documentary film 9/11: The Road to Tyranny featured footage from a FEMA symposium given to firefighters and other emergency personnel in Kansas City in which it was stated that the founding fathers, Christians and homeschoolers were terrorists and should be treated with the utmost suspicion and brutality in times of national emergency.

“The first directive was for Pastors to preach to their congregations Romans 13, the often taken out of context bible passage that was used by Hitler to hoodwink Christians into supporting him”

    Wow. I’m scared now. 😉

Do they really come to your house if you don’t fill out a census form?

We’ve gotten a couple of letters already, heh.

Yes, they really do come to your house. Of course, they can’t force you to answer their questions, even in person.

If you’re really hardcore about not answering the census (we just seize upon the opportunity to monkeywrench the ear tagging), know that the census takers can fill in the form with their observations and (hopefully educated) guesses. So if from the look of your home you have a similar layout to other homes your size on your block, they can estimate that. If you answer the door, they can fill in what they see through the door, for instance what you look like, whether you have young children, and so forth. So around census time, we simply don’t answer the door to people we don’t recognize.
