Please sign in the comments to fight against the awful unlawful discrimination that the Scripps National Spelling Bee is showing against homeschoolers. I will add your name and/or handle to the bottom of this post and then forward it to the appropriate trash receptacle authorities.

UPDATE: Please feel free to pass along a link to this petition and to the “Discrimination” post. The finals are not until tonight. It’s not too late to boost the HEK numbers if we all rally together and get the word out. Call Michelle Malkin! Call WND!! Call HSLDA!!! Call the ACLU!!!! Call GWB!!!!! Call everybody!!!!!!

UPDATE II: In the interest of gathering data I forced myself to watch that travesty of a “contest” last night. Not a single HEK to be found. Proof positive that Scripps bogusfully discriminated against the homeschooled.

    A PETITION

Whereas homeschoolers have dominated the Scripps National Spelling Bee and by all rights ought to dominate it every year and

Whereas the percentage of homeschoolers in the 2008 version of the Scripps National Spelling Bee is actually lower than last year’s and

Whereas this decreased percentage is prima facie evidence of a vast conspiracy against homeschoolers

    Therefore, Be it Resolved That

We the Uninformed Undersigned will boycott all Scripps products until said situation is rectified. This boycott shall include all newspapers (owned by Scripps or not) and all online and over-the-air sources of (so called) news. Yes,we shall stay completely ignorant of all current events until homeschooled kids make up at least 95% of the finalists in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

    Signatories:

    Daryl Cobranchi, Ph.D.
    Darren X, J.D.
    Doc, Ph.D.
    Bonnie, MH.D.

Well, I’d sign, except how would I know the boycott was working unless I saw it on the news?

Oh, wait, we right-wing boycotters don’t care whether something is practical or working if IT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO!! 🙂

Right, Doc. Oh…and feel free to edit the response from Scripps to make it really look like our petition did something. AFA does it all the time so it must be the good Christian thing to do.

So “the right thing to do” has no logical connection to what’s practical or workable?

The kid that won is from West Lafayette, IN. His father is a professor at Purdue, proving that the entire contest is a liberal education establishment conspiracy to hold homeschoolers down.

Although his confusion over the word numnah was quite funny. He pronounced it numbnuts when asking for clarification.

I see in looking at tonight’s Saturday TV lineup ABC is presenting the finals. How dare they!!!!! Maybe you should expand the boycott to include ABC & all the Sponsors that will be advertising on the program????

We wouldn’t want to leave anybody out of the Boycott would we???? Wait hmm??? would that make this boycott inclusive or not??? I am so confused.

Oh well, like the Queen of Hearts… Keep it simple Off with everybody’s head!!!!!

Yeah, that was classic. But the audience started laughing even before he mis-pronounced the word, so at least some of them thought the word was numb-nut, too.

But you did see Tia was a homeschooler from CA right? However did she manage to be third in that competition when her mother wasn’t a certified teacher?! 🙂
