Where would we be without HSLDA watching out for us?

[A]s a generation of home schoolers comes of age and pursues higher education in the nation’s colleges and universities, many home school graduates are facing difficulties gaining entrance.

“Some colleges still give home schoolers trouble,” notes Klicka. “They tell the home-school child that he needs to go back and take a GED, which is normally used for dropouts and…carries the stigma of [the one earning the GED] being a dropout.”

But Klicka — who has spent the better part of the last decade working with college admissions counselors to eliminate GED requirements — says the battle is being won as his legal group works to convince colleges that the home-school diploma is sufficient.

I like to see them document that “many” claim. It’s complete and utter bullshit. HSLDA members may be having trouble because they try to pass off creation studies as science. The rest of us are doing just fine.

I’m sure it has more to do with college admissions officers being sick and tired of seeing transcript after homemade transcript of all A’s. Like the gal I spoke to said, “You can’t tell me all homeschoolers are geniuses”.

This probably has a lot to do with HSLDA members usign the school-in-box more than anything. A lot fo them ARE crap with inflated grading.

Do people really grade their kids A-F on homeschool transcripts? My son is only 5, so I haven’t dealt with it yet, but I’ve always imagined that the grades I give will be pass/fail, and he’ll probably have grades from community college courses and test scores for college applications.
