    Wasn’t that a Republican catch-phrase a few years ago?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband won’t comply with a subpoena issued by state lawmakers investigating her firing of Alaska’s public safety commissioner, the McCain-Palin campaign said Thursday.

Gee. A Republican breaks the law and stonewalls an investigation. Who could have foreseen?

I believe the modern GOP needs to be shrunk down to the size where we can drown it in a bathtub. Fuck it! Skip the shrinking part.

UPDATE: Glenn Greenwald has much more.

Perhaps we just ought to indict the entire Republican Party and every member under RICO. I don’t believe there is any doubt that in its current incarnation, it is an ongoing criminal enterprise.

You need to ask the same of Charlie Rangle and the fact that he did not report rental income of $75,000

No, in fact, according to this report he has already agreed to pay whatever he owes in back taxes.

The problem with listening to Rs lately is that during the entire time they are talking I know I can’t take one little bit of it at face value. Every utterance has to be fact-checked.

    A sad thing, really.

But didn’t Obama sound calm and Presidential in his press conference on the financial markets! Hearing him speak was a reassuring break in the morning’s news.

    Have you seen this ad?

It will be nice to have a president for the next 8 years who can speak the language and who treats American voters like adults.

Yes and I was just listening to him speak to a women’s group in Florida — a town over from my Mom. 🙂

    All very refreshing.

    Naomi Wolf:

You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand “Palin Power.” A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections — but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you have freedom.

I realized early on with horror what I was seeing in Governor Palin: the continuation of the Rove-Cheney cabal, but this time without restraints.
