DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY
What’s wrong with this statement by Rush Limbaugh?
“We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independent. We believe that the preamble of the Constitution contains an inarguable truth, that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, freedom. And the pursuit of happiness,” he said, pausing several times for enthusiastic applause.

It’s not from the Constitution but the Declaration, what a dangerous demagogue dimbulb he is — the Preamble is stuff he’d rather not think about, like oh, promote the general welfare and establish justice. Also God isn’t in that founding document despirt the earlier poetic morality of the Declaration, on purpose, to be sure there was no confusion. (The book to read? Founding Faith:Providence, Politics and the Rebirth of Religious Freedom in America by the founder of beliefnet dot com.) |

His best — and oft-repeated — line during this whole thing was that this was his first national address. He is nothing if not a great publicity machine for himself! 🙂 Nance |

Precisely, great as in the French, “gross” 😉 (FavD is slogging through required French this year, so we make lots of French puns and jokes.) |

Here’s a few factoids about this self-anointed political guru: Limbaugh never studied economics. Never earned an advanced degree in anything. In fact, he never even earned a college degree. He never served in the armed forces, nor has he ever held any public office. In fact, he has never served his country in any way, other than to demonize his fellow Americans, and make millions in the process. This former TV sidekick of Wally George, discovered his malignant niche in life many years ago when he stumbled upon a pulsating aneurysm of conservative rage in this country. The seething anger of various hate groups were coalescing and going mainstream, and Limbaugh endeavored to become their voice. His crowning glory was appearing recently as the honored guest and orator at CPAC. Taking an hour longer than the 20 minutes he had been allotted, Limbaugh made a high school civics error by attributing a famous line from the Declaration of Independence to the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution. And, it is no small irony that most of his fawning audience didn’t catch the mistake. I’ve seen this character before, in several old black and white movies. He’s the fat, sweaty guy in the rumpled white suit, surrounded by a few demented followers in a small damp shack on the outskirts of town, screaming that his enemies and their evil ways are going to bring destruction upon the world. Then the roof caves in. |

But it’s a mistake to dismiss him as if he can’t have great (gross!) influence. Think Huey Long, George Wallace, Joe McCarthy, the WWII axis leaders. . .the Urban Dictionary includes George Bush 43 on the list, too:
See also the wikipedia definition (and go to the link for a list of “methods” they use, very interesting!) an entry that I predict by the time I’m dead, will have a big ol’ color picture of Rush right at the top. . .

Reputable polling shows that despite all sorts of rights violations and breaking the world — as SNL put it — some 20 percent hardcore loonies still approve of the 43rd president’s job performance. (Maybe there’s another fraction who like Rush, disapprove but only because he didn’t do even more to please the rich and fatuous? Gallup should poll THAT!) Ever citizen has the right to vote “right” and all American parents have the right to teach their own kids fantastical lies and unethically false beliefs. Those who abuse that right therefore seem to foster a fixed (pun intended) conservative core minority from generation to generation. (If there’s no god, they’re wrong about everything. If there is a god who planned all this just as they believe, part of it is keeping them in the minority. Thank god!) |

@Mike Ryan Please feel free to follow your fearless leader right to the edge and beyond. We Democrats applaud your forthright stand with the GOP’s de facto head. In fact, we’d encourage you to nominate him for national office. Why not Palin/Limbaugh ’12? |

Re: how conservative authoritarianism like Limbaugh’s preys on our psychology to “ruin it for the rest of us.” Some of the funniest truths you’ll hear about real life in modern culture. Home education veterans mayl relate particularly to Acts One and Three: “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine” by The White Stripes (anti-vaxxers) and “Shut Up” by Kelly Osbourne (enforcing social order among free individualists.) |

Re: CONSERVATIVES vs. OBAMA Conservative America, the choice is clear: On one side you have an exceptional human being: A: Harvard Law graduate, community activist, elected official. My friends, there ain’t enough heroin in the world to turn Rush Limbaugh into someone worth listening to. On one side you have a philosophy that approves of money for My friends, you want a truly conservative approach to Government? You want ‘every man for himself’ so to speak? P.S. The only economist dumber than Karl Marx is Milton Friedman. |

Nothing is wrong with the statement. It is the context in which he uses it to decide that the President is wrong and he ( Rush) is right. Rush does not care about this country. He said he hopes Obama fails. Rush has found his niche and that is his ability to fan the flames. I quit listening to him and the rest of the bozo’s when I saw what the fake Republicans were doing to this country, and he and Hannity were in effect saying “The emperor is wearing beautiful clothes”, Bush and the fake Republicans could do no wrong. Even though they were spending us into a hole, preaching about mushroom clouds (now that is using fear), giving out no bid contracts for everything, while quietly lining their pockets. Graham passing legislation to end the oversight of the banks. These are not real Republicans, they are not Regan Republicans, they are the ones that have found out how to milk the rest of us out of our hard earned money to further their own interests. |

Why Rush? The Conservative party will have a little more credibility if it didn’t rely on the hate filled rants of someone who wants his president to fail. Why do you need hate to energize you? |

Love or hate him, his points are very valid in todays hush hush media. He says what no one else wants to admit, the dirty little secrets our government and the main stream media love to forget. I to hope President Obama fails in his attempt to socialize our country. What makes this country unique is the fact that we don’t sucumb to outside governments (France.. Britain…Germany) influences. You don’t see anyone flocking to Europe, theres a reason everyone in the world wants to come to America. People literally die trying, because we have something that everyone else wants……..FREEDOM. |

Not only did el Rushbo get the wrong document –the quote itself is wrong. There is nothing about freedom in that line of the Declaration. It is truly amazing this guy has so much influence over so many people. |

If Rush belives in “our founding documents”, I would assume he respects Democracy. So why do we have to “take our country back”, if we had an election that was based on our Constitution and Bill of Rights? It is appalling to me that some of the people who are losing their homes, have had declining income for decades, and probably don’t have health insurance at the moment, keep swallowing this reverse mind-screw that the Republicans are feeding them. Wake up people! They’ve been in charge most of the time for the past 30 years. If you are in bad shape it’s because of them, not because of the Democrats! Start viewing all news channels, NOT just one! Get educated on what has been happening! |

Rahm (Secretary of Go Fuck Yourself) Emanuel was very complimentary of Rush, who seems eager to lead the Republican party. It’s not clear yet if RNC chair Steele and House Whip Cantor are ready to bow to Rush’s superiority. I can’t say I really appreciated three-dimensional chess all that much before, but I can’t help admiring the Cesarean jujitsu moves we’re seeing even if it is painfully one-sided brilliance. |

“We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be.” Thinking about this — who is his “we” if he sees every individual as wholly on his own, not affecting each other? Why would he or his false “we” care about “every American” and whether they are healthy, wealthy, free or happy, if all that is mere “choice” that each individual is wholly responsible for? (And how can Christians of all people swallow that?) |

I love it when liberals talk about issues without looking into them first. When Rush said those now famous words “I hope he fails”. The whole statement was not reported. Most liberals just read the headline (or are trying to purposely mislead people) of those liberal media stations CNN,MSNBC,NBC,CBS,ABC. What Rush really said was if Obama is planning on pursuing a socialist agend for the US then I hope he fails, but if he plans on following the Constitution and Capitalism then I hope he succeeds. As for the statement above, I didn’t take it like that. I took it that he was refering back to the Declaration. I think the Liberals are just looking to try and make someone look stupid as always. I love how liberals forget about the “57” states comment. Also, have you libs listened to your chosen one without a teleprompter??? He sounds like a bumbling idiot. He makes Bush sound like a grammatical genius. Please visit you tube and watch the clips. |

Well, probably both are true. |

Rush hates “liberals”. If you don’t follow Rush, you too are a “liberal”. There are “liberals” everywhere, and judging by election results, at least half the nation. He has declared war on them. That means he hates his fellow Americans. -A conservative who’s tired of being labeled a “liberal” and attacked |

All of this protracted discussion about a radio head? Rush Limbaugh is a “paid political commentator” – and commands whatever credibility and authority such a title would deserve. He is not certified or licensed in any profession or trade, has not served in either an elected or appointed position, has not served in the Peace Corp, participated in Habitat for Humanity or Doctors Without Borders, and has not served his country in the military. There seems to be no documented evidence that he has in any way contributed materially or temporally to the continued existence, success, or the historically positive international reputation of this nation. Our Presidential election was held this past November. The registered, eligible voters of this country elected Illinois Senator Barack Obama as their President. This is not a conditional selection by the voting public – President Obama has been constitutionally elected to serve as our leader until the next constitutional presidential election – whether or not this selection meets with the approval of Mr. Limbaugh or anyone else. Elections are mandatory in our system, and they are binding for all citizens. Expatriate status is a legal option available to all US citizens – sedition, incitement and domestic terrorism are not. In our electoral system, one candidate from one party is elected to, and subsequently assumes the office of the Commander in Chief. That is our system, and that is our law, despite Mr. Limbaugh’s rage, often stated lack of respect for our Constitutional institutions, and despicable countenance. He didn’t have his way, and he’s now throwing a sophomoric tantrum that is embarrassing this country and its citizens on the world stage. He will, like the rest of our nation’s citizens, either live according to the policies of the current administration, or he can hit the f@#*ing road. |

If I were a Republican with even the slightest influence in what’s left of the party – I would make my daring and decisive – and universally merciful – move tomorrow. I’ll bet my proceeds from this coming weekend’s garage sale that the first conservative to publicly command Mr. Limbaugh to “stick a sock in your bullhorn and park your carcass in the back row” will be a shoe-in for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2012. The above scenario is entirely conceivable assuming that Mr. Limbaugh hasn’t singlehandedly discredited the terms ‘Republican’ and ‘Conservative’ beyond redemption or recovery by 2012. The Republican Party is an integral and historic fixture in American politics, and I wish for its rapid return to credibility – provided it isn’t represented and/or controlled by a certifiable, egomaniacal narcissist posing as a pseudo-celebrity superpatriot. Should Mr. Limbaugh demand an apology, repeat the above suggested quote until he has retreated to the boy’s room for a controlled-substance ‘refresher’. I figure it to be about 285 to1 that if he (shudder) catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror, he’ll never, ever, leave the room. I also put it at about 1 to 8000 that he’ll be able to displace Ann Coulter from the prime spot in front of the looking glass. I realize that, as an independent, such a suggestion is anathema to the Democratic Party, but I do believe I’ll begin to convulse if I have to listen to another word from our far-far-too-familiar resident serial reactionary. |
