{"id":9760,"date":"2009-04-08T03:46:34","date_gmt":"2009-04-08T08:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cobranchi.com\/?p=9760"},"modified":"2009-04-08T03:46:34","modified_gmt":"2009-04-08T08:46:34","slug":"ignorance-only","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cobranchi.com\/?p=9760","title":{"rendered":"IGNORANCE ONLY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NC is getting ready to offer parents a choice for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fayobserver.com\/article?id=323252\">sex ed<\/a> in school:<\/p>\n<p>1) Comprehensive sex ed<br \/>\n2) Abstinence only sex ed<br \/>\n3) No sex ed at all<\/p>\n<p>And this is an improvement over the existing law.<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans, as usual, aren&#8217;t happy:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a vote falling mostly on party lines, the committee rejected a Republican request to take the word \u201conly\u201d out of a description of the abstinence-based curriculum: \u201cabstinence only until marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bill Brooks, president of the socially and Christian conservative Family Policy Council, said after the committee meeting that the word \u201conly\u201d in the description is bad, that it will push parents away from the abstinence curriculum and toward the comprehensive program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way it\u2019s written in the bill is a pejorative term,\u201d Brooks said. \u201cYou get the form home for your child and it says \u2018abstinence-only\u2019 or \u2018comprehensive sex education,\u2019 well, what sounds better? Well, certainly I want my child to have the best. I don\u2019t want him to have just \u2018only.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>AO is the name.
