BEST (SHRINKING) PLACES TO LIVE
My soon to be new home town made CNN’s top 8 list of cities that are losing population but are real bargains. Parkersburg is #7 in the montage. I actually considered the house pictured in the article. It’s a beautiful old house that has been fully restored as a B & B. The only problem was that the 3 bedrooms on the 3rd floor have a very strange layout. We bought a house just around the corner from that one that is much more sane. It’s a pretty big house, so we’ll have lots of room for HERP&ES guests. 🙂

Not quite. We paid $255k. Zillow tends to be a bit low. |

That’s still a deal. I don’t think you could even beat that around here, and this is Iowa, forchissakes. |

Thanks. There are a bunch of these old Victorians and Queen Annes for sale at really reasonable prices. You can tour the neighborhood on Google Maps: maps.g...ann+st.,+parkersburg,+wv&aq=&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=29.716225,77.431641&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Ann+St,+Parkersburg,+West+Virginia&ll=39.275853,-81.556406&spn=0.028304,0.075617&z=14 |
