Awesome photo…I tried to take some pics but they turned out blurry. What kind of camera did you use? Not that I doubt your photographic skills, maybe it’s just me. 😉 And I’ve just got to find a way to work that phrase, “ten minutes into totality,” into some conversation. Perhaps when I’m making the kids clean their rooms…haha…I don’t know. I’ll keep working on that. Thanks for the photo. |

It was clear at 8 PM, but when we went out at 10:20 we were covered in thick clouds – couldn’t even find the moon. How long was the exposure for that pic? |

I shot it with an Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom with the zoom maxed out at 63 mm. I intentionally set the ISO low (ISO equivalent 100) to minimize noise. Exposure time was 1 sec. Interestingly, until totality I had to use the flash in order to get good shots. Without it, the bright parts of the moon completely washed out the shadowed. Sorry, Chris, to hear about your bad luck. It was cloudy here all day until 8 p.m. After they broke, the view was unobstructed for the entire eclipse. Next one is in early 2008. |
