Don’t understand this mind set but I can relate. Parents around here will fall over themselves getting into a sports-related meeting at the school but could care less about anything else. Two years ago a boy brought a couple of guns into the high school, and when the principal held a meeting to address concerns only a handful of people showed up. At a lacrosse meeting last week, there were dozens of parents. The last education week parent day I attended at the middle school, out of a class of 30 some there was me and one other mom. |

I think $20 million is a little over the top as well. That’s a big drain on district budgets. My idea is that high school fields should have corporate sponsors. Reliant Stadium of Denton |

Excellent idea Chris but doesn’t the NEA protect teachers from being forced to participate in anything productive and logical. Raising their own money beyond a bakesale is not congruent with g-schools’ government dependence modus operandi. What if the kids witnessed capitolism work? It may sour them from any future empathy for increasing forced taxation for school projects. Some things just cannot be tolerated. |
