An HEK won the National Geo Bee yesterday, despite a rules change that may have been implemented to handicap HEKs.
The National Spelling Bee starts next week. One in eight (12.45 percent to be precise) of the competitors are HEKs. I think I like those odds.

Note to the AP on that HED: Spell-check is for sissies. I guess NG will just have to break down and completely outlaw HEK’s to ensure the fix next year. I really think they should go the racetrack/boxing promoter route and pay a bounty if a non-HEK can win. |
