Well it’s good to know that the kids are responsible for paying for their own custom ring tones for their cell phones. You just HAVE to draw the line somewhere. Our teens are IPODless and phoneless. We have drawn the line somewhere ELSE. |

I remember, the only thing I threw a fit to have when younger was a $32 Coca-cola shirt, during the mid 80’s. So far, my own monkeys haven’t asked for anything outrageous. We do make an effort to let them know all about the finances because I think it’s better for them to see the reality of bills and such. My son has been begging me to buy him a decent c++ program tutor online though (specifically one called C-bot), but I’ve lumped that in the ‘educational wants’ category. |

“Pretty much everybody has a cellphone, and iPods, probably one out of three people,” Hmmmm…maybe someone should point out to these kids that NOT having one actually puts them in the majority. (Last I checked, 1/3 was not “everyone” or even “pretty much everyone.”) |

Rikki, Could I trouble you for a link to the C-bot information? |

The only time my kids ever whined for some really expensive electronic thingy, I stressed we’d have to give up the electric bill for that month. 😀 |

Gene, I replied with an email to you. 🙂 I thought it might be prudent to go ahead and post the link here as well. Others might want it. Also, I typed c-bot, should have put Ceebot to make it easier for people to look up. 🙂 |

My 14yo has a job, made possible by her status as an HEK. She wants and iPod, she can buy her own. So far, it hasn’t been an issue for her. |
