CALL ME JIHADI
Henry Cate passed along a couple of FSM cartoons. This one is especially apropos in light of the debate over at Scott Somerville’s place. And the second.

I didn’t see a comment box at Scott’s blog, and no link to Chris’s addy — so the comment gets plopped here. Re Chris’s comment: “I’m still not convinved that this is an organic reaction. I’ve read that the cartoons were out for several weeks before there was any problem.” The cartoons were published in September. Attacks unintended, cleric contends “European politicians want Muslim votes,†he said. “We were running a campaign, trying to create pressure.†Abu-Laban said he had helped organize visits to Egypt and Lebanon, where he and other Muslims from Denmark displayed the cartoons. He said the visits were aimed at garnering political support, not inciting riots. |

The plot thickens… it is now my understanding that the Danish imams took several ADDITIONAL and much NASTIER cartoons with them on their trip to the Middle East. I haven’t been able to verify this, since I haven’t spotted any websites that carry the additional three cartoons, but it should be something that can be verified. If it is blasphemy for a non-Muslim to publish cartoons that ridicule Mohammed, what is it when a Muslim leader publishes cartoons that are even worse? |

Satire is a favorite of mine and I loved this : “Seething Midwest Explodes Over Lombardi Cartoons Green Bay, WI – Like a pot of bratwurst left unattended at a Lambeau Field pregame party, simmering tensions in the strife-torn Midwest boiled over once again today as rioting mobs of green-and-gold clad youth and plump farm wives rampaged through Wisconsin Denny’s and IHOPs, burning Texas toast and demanding apologies and extra half-and-half.” |
