NC home educators ought to keep an eye on this one. A 4-year-old Raleigh-area boy died in his sleep the other night. His mother may have been arrested for felony child abuse (the article says she has, but there is no word of it in the video.)

Lynn Paddock, Bizzell said Sunday night, was arrested and charged with felony child abuse. Her arrest, however, was not in connection with the 4-year-old’s death.

Bizzell said the boy was one of seven children who lived in the house on Grabtown Road. All but one of the children was adopted, he said. All of the children are home-schooled and spend time each day working on the farm and doing chores.

OMG, farm work and chores? We can’t have kids doing that kind of stuff, it’ll stunt their growth, or something.

The link now points to an article that says she used to beat her children with a piece of PVC pipe, and the charge could be murder. I certainly hope this puts a healthy scare into people who indulge in violence against their children.

I also think that anyone who thinks all NC homeschoolers beat their children with PVC pipe needs their head examined, though.

Spanking is abuse. Spanking with an object is criminal. The woman deserves to be in jail. I doubt the little boy died from doing “farm chores”. Ritualistic spanking is the sickest part of religion.
