BE NICE
This home educator sounds nice. Naive, but nice.
I’ve been thinking a lot about HSLDA lately. I’m being really honest here, I don’t understand why some people are against it. I think they are a great organization. When I went to the HS convention just over a week ago, I didn’t feel any sense of fear to renew my membership. Chris Klicka did a great job with his speaking as the keynote speaker. And he was so down to earth and friendly when my dh and I met him. The type of guy you wish lived next door to you. I think we need something like this to protect homeschool freedoms. If not, we may lose it and there is a spiritual battle in our country; all over the world. I know not everyone who homeschools isn’t a Christian. However, our homeschooling freedoms affect all religions and beliefs.
Yeah, if you’re a conservative, Christian home educator who buys into all their non-homeschool-related governmental activity, HSLDA must look great.

Check her comments about you. Not naive – just dumb. |

Daryl, I don’t presume to tell you what to do or say at your own blog, but perhaps you might link booboo some articles explaining your views on HSLDA. I wanted to link this one at her blog but can’t. I hope she will come here again. homeed...h.html As always Daryl, thanks for the space. |

She don’t like the unschoolers! And she aint the grammariest person around. Oh well, our unschooling studies the past few days have included Black Sabbath and Judas Priest because of some VH1 history of metal shit that I let babysit my kids one night while I did chores. |

And there doesn’t appear to be any way to register to make a comment. Well, if she sticks her head in here, I’d be more than happy to inform her of my reasons for distrusting Farris/HSLDA. In fact, I think I’ll need to TB her original post again to offer the invite. |

You have to go to homeschooljournal.net to register – I think Ron and Andrea have it clamped down while they work out their anti-spam defenses. Sam – I watched those metal shows on VH1 – brought back fond memories of my head banging days 🙂 |

Ah, she seems to have deleted my comment – which was nothing more than a suggestion to spend a little time reading here. Typical. |

Well let’s see if she keeps my comment sending her to Spunky’s explanation of what is wrong with HSLDA. |

She’s moderating comments. Mine didn’t show up either. All I did was point out that she might read my series on unschooling, and assured her that all four of my kids can read, write, and do math. They can all earn over 1300 on their SATs too. At 15. Without studying. Oh well, maybe she doesn’t want to learn anything new. She can let the HSLDA speak for her… Since she’s probably reading here, she might consider that the gracious owners of the blog site she uses are fully behind the boycott she seems to despise. |

Doc, You need to re-calibrate your scale. A 1300 on the SAT is not what it used to be. I think a rough equivalent on the new SAT would be 1950. |

They took theirs previous to the new scoring procedures, so I wouldn’t know. I think the new scores are as per testing from 03/05, and they took theirs in January of 05. |

Damn! 1950? That makes my 1580 (taken in 1983) look like crap. |

So you missed only 1 or 2 questions Audrey? |
