Can we all agree that this is definitely not homeschooling?
Divorce, MTV style
• In what is being called the MTV reality curse, Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro are following in the divorcing footsteps of Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler, and Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, all stars of MTV love-life reality shows. It’s not exactly a surprise; the couple, who had MTV tape their November ’03 wedding, separated in July. Word is, Dave is being homeschooled by porn megastar Jenna Jameson.

Seems like Dave may need some special tutoring. . . if Carmen couldn’t “homeschool” him.. . Daryl, isn’t there some sort of filter avialable on your search thingy to keep you from having to read trash like this. 🙂 Nance |

It’s interesting to me that ‘homeschooled’ is now being used in place of self-learning or private instruction. Very interesting evolution of the word in general. |

Rikki has a point. Although we can see the word is being used toungue-in-cheek in the case of the porn star, the implicit sense of “learning at home” is kind of cool. I know that all kinds of learning at home are not “homeschooling” to the purist. But we who advocate and support homeschooling, even in the purest sense, should be glad when we see evidence that people don’t consider it to be an inferior way of learning. (I bet the writer of the article in question wouldn’t mind being a lifelong learner of that sort of homeschooling…. lol) |
