Utterly Meaningless

If I weren’t really so clueless, this would be the most shameless bleg for links ever. But I am, so thanks. I’m beginning to get the concept, now.

All he has to do it add a link to this entry in one of his posts, and wordpress will trackback it automagically.

That’s exactly what I thought and had been doing, but why I asked Scott for help in the first place, because it wasn’t working! I was linking things in my posts but not seeing any evidence it was being received anyuwhere, no posting at my place or theirs, etc.

Maybe because there is a difference between pinging and “tracking back?” Or maybe I just am incapable of getting this.
After I saw Daryl’s challenge I tried to do the trackback to THIS post earlier today, for example, in the same way that worked for me at Scott’s — nothing! Unless Daryl has it up his sleeve (or under tha big hat!) somewhere. . .

Many, many, many bloggers have disabled trackbacks due to trackback spam. It was disabled on ODonnellWeb for years. It’s enabled on the new WordPress version of the site. Personally, I rely on a saved search at Technorati to track who is linking me.

OK, I’ll just accept that to mean it’s not always my fault I can’t make it work — and I won’t even ask what the heck your last sentence could possibly mean! 🙂
