AGGGHHHH!
This kind of crap pisses me off:
Leading up to the Republican primary election last spring, Taylor received endorsements from Gov. Rick Perry, the Texas Homeschool Coalition and the Texas Eagle Forum.
The statewide groups ought to be completely nonpartisan. Otherwise, homeschooling becomes just another political football. When the Democrats take power (and they will sooner or later) do we really want homeschooling to be thought of as Republican?

I totally agree with you that we don’t want homeschooling to be thought of as a partisan issue, but on the other hand, there is the issue of the Democrats being heavily funded by the NEA, which is on record opposing homeschooling. I am not sure that I have a point here, other than to say that I can see why a homeschooling group would be inclined to support a Republican. Personally, I don’t trust either party at this point to protect our liberty. |

Which is all the more reason for big groups to play it straight. If the NEA can point to big homeschooling groups like the Texas statewide or HSLDA as being wholly-owned subsidiaries of the GOP, how can we expect to get a fair hearing? |

Which is why I *love* our independent, non-partisan homeschooling advocacy group here in Virginia–The Organizaiton of Virginia Homeschoolers. They mean it when they say, “Helping homeschoolers is our only agenda.” They work with Republicans, Democrats, whoever–as long as they’re willing to help homeschoolers, they’re our friends. And no, I don’t work for them. I’m just a member and I think they’re cool 😀 |

Hey, I’m doing my part to portray homeschooling as the domain of leftist hippies. 🙂 |

In a word Mr. Cobranchi: Hell, no. |
