ZERO TOLERANCE = ZERO BRAINS
A kindergartner is facing expulsion because he brought a pocket knife to school (apparently to open his lunch). *Sigh*
As an added bonus, check the comments at the end of the article– homeschooling seems to be a hot topic of discussion.

A few weeks ago I taught a homeschool algebra class on a blanket in a field surrounded by chickens. Hanging out with us was an angelic six year old boy who listened intently while whittling a stick with a wicked six inch knife. Gotta love homeschooling. |

Expulsion could be the best thing for him! Get him away from the zero tolerance craziness and maybe his parents could figure out a way to homeschool. Nance |

Hmmm, which is the “zero brains” part – parents letting a 5-year old have a pocket knife at school (at five his parents SHOULD know what he is doing), suspending a 5-year-old, or the comments on the article? |

All I can say is where are the parents!! |

The answer is B: suspending a 5-year-old. |

Of course, now that I’ve read the comments on the article, the answer could also be C. Damn these multiple choice tests! Can the answer be D: both B and C |

I’d say E, all of the above 🙂 |

It was kind of ironic. The same day I read this article, my daughter was sitting in a one day in-school suspension for SAYING she was going to bring a pocketknife in to show her freind. (We don’t even have a pocket knife!) |
