A creationist (Dave?) tried to comment today in an old thread after I made fun of Dave yesterday. Unfortunately, comments get closed automatically after some mysterious period and I haven’t a clue on how to re-open them. So, I’m the “Loser of the Day.”

UPDATE: Found it. Comments are back open.

UPDATE: Dave’s history. I IP-banned him based on his “skull crushing” comments. He’s on a static IP so I’m hopeful he’ll just go away quietly. If not, I’ll contact Indiana University– Purdue University at Indianapolis, where his IP is based.

Gee, Mr. Cobranchi, I didn’t realize this was a technical problem for you. I thought you were just being a weenie, getting in the last word and then shutting it down. I don’t really care about the papstor in South Bend, but now I have a serious question for you, since you imply that you deviate from the materialist sociobiology orthodoxy.

If it is not due to evolution, do you believe that fairy pixies granted human-like consciousness to some early hominid? Or are we really just the same as the whales, dolphins, and bonobos?

    Define “human-like consciousness.”

Is there a physical structure for “human-like consciousness”? Does it show up in the fossil record? How about “faith”? Where in the brain is that located? Is there a delusion center that evolutionary biologists can point to and say “THIS is when man got stupid!”?

A badge you should wear proudly, Daryl. 🙂

Is Dave the same Dave as the original letter writer, Pastor Davy, or some other creationist?

Gosh, we are getting close now, I think. Do you really believe there is part of the human mind not determined by the brain, or do you believe that there is no such thing as the human mind?

The latter concept is very exciting, because it might lead to a conflation of anarcho-primitivism and whale/dolphin/bonobo humanistic animalism.

OK, let me take the high road here, as if to answer your questions, even though I am required to guess at your answers. I know it is your romper room here, so you do what you want.

For human-like consciousness, we will avoid the 19th-century world of Darwin and look to the 20th century, like Turing. I know that Kasparov and Asimov may provide counterexamples, but let us suppose that a human mind is one that is recognized as such by another human mind. On this view, I am giving you credit as a human rather than a dolphin, even though we are communicating through the interdolphinnet.

I have a physical structure for human consciousness; it is where I put my cowboy hat. I like a black felt one with braided leather trim. I overpaid for it at a tourist trap in Alaska.

I think there are fossils of human skulls somewhere. But, you know, if you can’t find any, we will just go with that whole creation-from-dust thing.

I have faith that if I crush your skull, you will no longer respond to comments here. I haven’t talked to your parents lately, but perhaps your mother can tell you about where you were before you were able to boot up your wetware. Also, if you crush my skull, I will no longer be able to comment here, writing crazy things about “faith.” So, I must conclude that faith is somewhere above my neck and behind my nose.

I thought that most evolutionary biologists were of the opinion that man was stupid up until 1859, when The Great One showered His blessings upon us, and the scales fell from our eyes, and history began. Whales would say it happened in 1986, when Kirk and Spock came back to tell us how the whales were needed to save earth. Anarcho-primitivists, on the other hand, would say that man became stupid with the first seed deliberately planted in the ground, which led to patriarchy, Vanilla Ice, and blogging.

    Wrong “Star Trek” movie.

Dave, I’m laughing at the “superior” intellect.

Eh, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

I’m glad you are laughing, dude. That proves you are not a bonobo, since bonobos never laugh at me, they just try to hump my leg.

Now, if you were a bonobo, I would have said I was a “superior” intellect. But since you are a blogger, I didn’t say that. You are the one who doesn’t know where your mind is, dude.

Wow, Daryl, I’d only say you’re a winner if you were looking at winning some award for attracting such a large number of intellectual weirdos to your blog. And I’m not putting a link in to my blog here, because that guy and his skull-crushing statement scares me.

Dave has commented before. I always thought he was just a typical unscientific know-nothing fundy. I now understand that compared to Dave, the unscientific know-nothing fundies seem absolutely rational.

Wow, Daryl. Drama. Not what I expected first thing in the morning.

Maybe you ought to do a video on it.

The proper name for the that school is IUPUI – I’d be happy if you would downplay the Purdue part 😉

It’s okay, Chris. Don’t worry about “guilt by association.” We already know YOU’RE not a raving asshole. 🙂

His blog is gone. Looks like you chased another one off the Internet.
