This press release is pretty cute.

Alabu is a leader among natural handmade goat milk soap producers. Founded in 2000 as the result of a home-school chemistry experiment, Alabu has expanded from that simple beginning to a company that now produces over 50 types of soap along with a line of solid lotion sticks, light penetrating moisturizers and other bath products.

Maybe Doc can answer this– Are there any other “natural handmade goat milk soap producers”?

The answer is YES. I ordered some lotion, soap and shaving soap from a place called Udder Delight. There products are wonderful.

Yeah, everyone who got a goat, decided they needed two, figured out they had WAY too much milk, learned to make cheese, still had too much milk, and branched out into soap. I love the use of the word “natural”, as if there is an unnatural goat milk soap to compare it with. Some people who mass produce for craft fairs (calling it “mass production” means you have 4 or more goats) may add water to the mix, but isn’t water natural too? Googling “goat milk soap” yielded a million entries, so yes, this is definitely BIG NEWS.

Hi Daryl – In a recent development, my very own handmade “natural” goat’s milk soap is available in the gift shop at the Charlotte Museum of History. Hey, It may or may not be significantly better than mass produced soap, but it sure is fun! But, yes, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of similar businesses around. Whoda thunk?
