I think I might have to dig out our flag from the garage. Just in sympathy, y’know.

You know, our “Founding Fathers” (and most everyone else at the time) didn’t even know what the flag was suppose to look like. And soldiers weren’t required to salute it until the late 1800’s.
(Check out “‘I Love Paul Revere Whether He Rode Or Not'” by Richard Shenkman.)

This kind of flag-worshiping is a fairly recent development, and an unfortunate and unnecessary one at that, in my opinion.

The deputy was clearly in the wrong. CLEARLY.

The victims complied. They were not under arrest. They did not have to show ID. (whose house did the asshole think he went to anyway?)

The victims complied and the deputy broke in. and then assaulted this couple in their own home.

I hope he’s sued into paupery.

And the law they allegedly violated is clearly unconstitutional.

I read the article and a very few of the comments. What really stands out to me are the comments that support a forced respect of and a certain view of respect for the US flag. Apparently, because some people think US soldiers die to make us free, we should respect the sacrifice by allowing our freedoms to be taken from us.
