Seems like you’d also need a ballistic helmet and a flack vest. Then you’d just have to worry about being shot in the face or in the lower half of your body.

Hmm… seems like you’ll still be in danger anyway.

I think that’s sad — very sad that someone felt there would be a need for bulletproof backpacks, and even more sad that somewhere out there are parents who feel they need to buy them for their kids.

Like the backpacks aren’t heavy enough?

OTOH, there was that pillow fight here the other day. . . I better stock up on pillows! 🙂

Isn’t the day you think your kid needs a bullet proof backpack the day you decide school isn’t safe enough for your kid and get the kid out of there?

    Or is that just me?

So here we are in a day and age where there are metal detectors in the school entry way and people selling bullet proof back packs. And all my friends think I’m the crazy one for schooling my kids at home.

We do a lot of travel, some of it international, right after school starts in the fall and right before it gets out in the spring. We enjoy the freedom of being where the crowds are not and get off season deals while still on the fringe of the seasons. The school my son would have been in last year had 3 days they shut down and emergency evacuated the students because of bomb threats. Of course my two children were safe at home and both of them reading and doing science and mathematics at a higher grade level than in the public school.

I ask you, who is crazy?
