What’s $700 billion among friends? I am blissfully out of touch after the horse show, and working hard to stay that way. Knowledge of world events is inversely related to my happiness. |

I say make the exec’s at the failing corporations give back all those *performance* bonuses, vacation homes, etc,… Hey Chris, were you at the Paso Fino National Show? I was there and it was mostly a pleasant respite from the disgusting reality facing us, h during a flag ceremony before the final classes I just about lost it. How can I be both sad over the state of America to the point of tears (at a flag ceremony) and yet so F***** mad at the same time… such it is, tho. |

I came in on the end of an interview on NPR today in which the interviewee was saying that the Fed and Congress are moving way too fast on this. He was saying we should slow down, listen to expert economists, weigh the pros and cons, and make a rational decision whether a bailout is even something that should be done. At the end, I found out that the interviewee was Newt Gingrich. Probably the first time I’ve ever agreed with him on anything. |

I heard him on Hannity’s show. Yeah, he made some sense. And then he said that oil spiked $25 yesterday because the Saudis realized the Democrats weren’t going to allow drilling 50 feet from the shore (paraphrase). ONCE A HACK, ALWAYS A HACK. |

Oil spiked because yesterday was expiration day for a bunch of futures contracts |

I didn’t hear him say anything about oil prices on NPR, just a bit on the bailout, which was quite reasonable. I was somewhat shocked to hear who it was. Thought maybe he’d gotten a brain transplant or something. |

But it’s not really about the oil or the bailout, with Gingrich or any other R power5broker. It’s about telling any story, raising any spectre, maneuvering any way possible to continue Republican control of our developing police state — |
