Some parents shouldn’t be.
WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) — An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair.
The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman’s Club, police Lt. Lawrence Vallierpratte said.

There’s no such thing as a gun accident – only gun incidents that are somebody’s fault. If there ever was a place for zero tolerance, this is it. |

I disagree with Rob. Any mechanical device, no matter how well maintained, is capable of malfunctioning, sometimes fatally. That would be a gun accident. That’s not the case here though. Seems like an Uzi would have enough kick that no 8 year old should ever be in control of one, even under adult supervision. |
