I AM SO EMBARRASSED
Helen Hegener noticed that the easily outraged are outraged (again!) over the dumb comments on The View and are threatening a boycott (again!).
Is it possible to secede from the “homeschool movement”? Do I have to go back to using the “home educator” label? Or maybe I should just say our kids receive a “non-traditional education.” Think maybe that’s enough of a distinction so that I don’t get lumped in with the easily outraged?

Like my tagline say, I’m not one of those homeschoolers. Maybe I’ll just telling people that kids are in an exclusive private school 🙂 |

Aw, c’mon, Daryl. Don’t you recognize the pattern here? The modus operandi? “You are the victims, they hate you.” Consider that as seen through an Old Testament reading of “an eye for an eye…” There are much broader implications than homeschooling in this. |

I expect we’ll see the HSLDA No one plays the victim better than Farris. |

I’m in. I barely got past the Motrin vs. the babywearers before the homeschoolers vs The View bandwagon rolled on by. |

I can go one better… I’m boycotting having children… I am, however, the family “go to” for all home-education and academic-related issues. (I suppose it is not a coincidence that I am also the family bail-me-out-of-a-jam softie.) |

Homeschoolers vs. homeschoolers vs. anit-homeschoolers…I just don’t get it? So it basically boils down to that you are offended as a homeschooler by a homeschooler that is offended by an anti-homeschooler? Gee, I don’t want or need any of you on either side of this silly quibble to defend me. My children speak loud enough… |

Gina the sock puppet cutting and pasting the same comment on multiple blogs. That I do get. (I got the same comment). |

You got the comment first…does that mean you win? Just kidding. I posted a comment on the ‘other blog’. Just so as I don’t have to be lazy and be accused of sock puppeting….whatever the hell that is anyway… |

Gina, BTW– You might not have been around for the last round of boycott calling. It was over a stupid essay contest that Subway was running. The “debate” among the easily outraged was even more inane than the latest. I fully expect HSLDA to chime in tomorrow. They’re among the leaders of the EOH-SofA (Easily Outraged Home-Schoolers of America). |

There is one thing I have learned in my many years of homeschooling…you better have thick skin. I agree with you that it is indeed silly to be outraged over ever little jab made at homeschooling. However, I still like to read about the jabs…however amusing, stupid, or mundane they are. If some people choose to be ridiculous and offended and decide to bycott or whatever, so be it. The only thing that is a reflection of my homeschooling is my kids. BTW, I looked upsock puppeting on Urban dictionary and I assure you that I am not affiliated with anybody or any blog. I am not a blogger, but I like to read them. I like your blog. |

Hey, good connection Daryl — maybe that Subway boycott is behind Behar’s conclusion, that a lot of us are demented? |

There are so many things pointing in that direction, JJ, how can we ever know which one caught her eye. 🙂 Nance |

Where’s a well-designed multivariate analysis when we need one?? |

I will accept that Gina is not a sock puppet. However, two cut and paste comments from a someone that had never commented before just screamed sock puppet. |

“Where’s a well-designed multivariate analysis when we need one??” I think I have a spare MANOVA just lying around out in the shed. |

Seriously though, it does get a little tiring always having to explain how not all homeschoolers fit the sterotype, when the ones that do fit the stereotype are the ones who are the most vocal and the most exclusionary. |
