Check out the sample pages by clicking through. I’m not sure those are what I would have chosen.

BTW, sorry for the lack of posts lately. We’re in the throes of a new semester. Our oldest is taking a night class at the CC and it’s keeping Lydia and me on the go. He passed his driving test this week, so that should help settle things down soon.

Congrats on your son getting his Driver’s License. It’s wonderful once all the kids can drive. Course then you wind up staying up late waiting for them to come home ;>)

I’m taking Alex to get his permit on Monday. He’ll never be able to drive without me in the car, though, because we’ll never be able to afford insurance. So although I will be able to let him drive soon, I won’t be able to stay home! Congratulations to Anthony!

    Thanks.

In NC kids cannot get their license until they’re listed on the policy. When Anthony first started hinting that he though he was ready to take the test (around September of last year), the insurance was going to be an extra $150/month! When I called in January to add him, it was down to $86/mo. The only thing that had changed, I guess, is that he was now 17.

My friends and I were just discussing car insurance, 16 year-olds have crash rates that are three times higher than 17-year-olds. It’s like magic, on the day they turn 17 they become better drivers, so their premiums go down. It’s understandable why so many parents have their kids wait until they’re 17 to get their license – who the heck can afford the car insurance?

In New Jersey, you have to have officially sanctioned driving lessons to get a permit at 16. Now that he’s 17, the state in its wisdom will allow me to teach him to drive. And our insurance company said that he doesn’t need to be on the policy till he gets an actual license.

Same here Lillian — no policy listing until they get their independent license. So Favorite Daughter had had the learner’s permit since 17 but doesn’t use it much, hasn’t pursued her full license and now she’s almost 19, still not on the policy . . .
