{"id":6056,"date":"2006-02-05T06:43:51","date_gmt":"2006-02-05T11:43:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cobranchi.com\/?p=6056"},"modified":"2006-02-05T06:43:51","modified_gmt":"2006-02-05T11:43:51","slug":"marketing-the-g-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cobranchi.com\/?p=6056","title":{"rendered":"MARKETING THE G-SCHOOLS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.middletownjournal.com\/opin\/content\/news\/opinion\/stories\/2006\/02\/05\/mj0205editorial.html\">editorial<\/a> in the Middletown, OH paper:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But, beyond raising the district\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s performance to the highest levels possible, should taxpayers be footing the bill for a marketing campaign to convince parents to change their minds about where their kids go to school? Should the tax dollars that pay the salaries of Price and his staff be spent to convince charter school parents that they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve made a wrong choice? School officials have not yet said how a marketing campaign would be funded, so these questions may be premature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;While a publicly funded campaign to promote Middletown City Schools may be in the town\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s best interests, we believe it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s still a question the community must examine fully and think through. If successful, such a campaign could effectively put private businesses \u00e2\u20ac\u201d i.e., charter schools \u00e2\u20ac\u201d out of business. Should public funds be spent to undermine the private sector?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Marketing, though, is a direct result of school choice.
