MY GIRLS ARE GOING TO A CONVENT
OK, the title is sexist as heck. So, I’m a jerk. I’m also a former boy.
The New York Times has a lengthy piece on the death of teenage romance and how it’s now all about “hooking up” (which may or may not be a euphemism for oral sex). Most depressing of all was the description of “friends with benefits.”
On Valentine’s Day, I was invited to spend the evening with 12 junior and senior friends in an upper-middle-class suburb of Chicago. They were hanging out, eating pizza and watching TV. Not one had a Valentine, and most said they wouldn’t have it any other way. Several pointed out that having close friends of the opposite sex makes romantic relationships less essential. Besides, if you feel like something more, there’s no need to feign interest in dinner and a movie. You can just hook up or call one of your friends with benefits.
Casual sex taken to its (il)logical extreme.

This is the results of “No God” – this is the results of the “G” schools. If the kids aren’t brought up with out any kind of morals (not from parents, not from religion, not from school) then who can blame them for having no morals. Add to that thier schools providing things like condoms for free and what is a child to conclude? You reap what you sow – our society has begun its reaping. |

Yours are going to a convent. My husband used to say that when our daughter was old enough to date, we would move to the Yukon Territory. “I know what boys are like. I was one.” |

Haven’t read the piece yet, but my first reaction upon hearing this is that reporters are very, very gullible, and kids love to shock their elders. |

Hmmm.. anyone remember the 45 goals of Communism: 24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press. 25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. 26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.” 40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. 41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. the rest are at |
